National Infertility Awareness Week #NIAW2023

It’s been a LONG time since I’ve posted, but I couldn’t miss this year’s National Infertility Awareness Week® (NIAW). NIAW is a movement, founded in 1989 by RESOLVE to help others not only understand infertility, but also learn that it's not just an old stigma and that it's real.  Oh, how I know it’s real! My husband and I had tried for five years to have our daughter, and there is an eight year gap between her and our son. We were one of the millions of people affected by infertility; and the stats show that 1 in 8 couples have trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy.

This year’s themes of #UseYourVoice and #FindYourVoice speak deep to me, because I kept our struggle with infertility quiet, and was pretty ashamed by it all. I didn’t find my voice until our first child was born. So for this year’s NIAW, this is how I’ll be using my voice:

  1. Diving into God’s Word and hosting a virtual prayer time and Bible study. We’ll dive into God’s Word, and pray God’s promises for hope as well as study about women in the Bible that experienced infertility.

  2. Hosting a complimentary webinar on Nutrition for Female Fertility. Being a registered dietitian for over 20 years, this has been on my heart to do for quite a while. I’m kind of embarrassed for not doing this sooner, but super excited for this!

  3. Join the orange movement on Wednesday, April 27th and rock my ORANGE gear to show you support of National Infertility Awareness Week®. Whether it’s you, or someone you know who struggles to build a family, #WearOrange!
